new place anyone?

I know Chicago Restaurant Week 2010 has passed, but I thought offering a list of the participating restaurants would be nice…go try them out.

Pizano’s Pizza

I think I have found a little gem.  For all you tourists, locals as well (which you probably already know about this place) who enjoy spending a day of shopping up and down the mag mile and are looking for some great pizza, I would definitely recommend Pizano’s Pizza found at the cross streets of State and Chestnut.   I will say that I didn’t get the typical Chicago style deep dish, which I must say isn’t really pizza, it is more like lasagna.  The buttery thin crust, toppings, and cheese are awesome.  The atmosphere was great.  The prices are typical for pizza.  The waitress was really nice.

As a side note, I had ordered from Pizano’s prior but only as delivery.  There was an issue with the delivery and I didn’t get the pizza til almost 2 hours after I ordered it.  So as a way to say, sorry, the restaurant gave me my pizza for free and with the option for another free pizza.  I thought it was a nice touch.  I think it speaks well for the eatery.

Tango Sur

Alright, so I have a few things I need to get off my chest about this place.  After many weeks of just trying to get a table at this little Argentinian Steakhouse, I thought the wait was worth it.  The food was great, the atmosphere was very intimate (great place for a date), the wait staff was prompt and very helpful, and lastly the fact that it is BYOB was PERFECT.  However, the biggest issue I had with this joint is the fact that they don’t take reservation for 2 people…seriously, come on now!  Ok, so granted it was Friday night but we had to stop by (physically go in because you can’t call and make the reservation) around senior citizens hour which was roughly 5 o’clock to put our names on the list.  Then finally around 8 o’clock we finally sat down.  To me, that just seems like a lot of hoop jumping for a darn table.  So overall, I would definitely recommend this place but beware that you might have some waiting to do when you arrive…..

What’s the point?

You know that age-old question of, “where are we going to eat?”  Well….to settle this question, I have decided to start reviewing the restaurants I or my friends dine at here in the great city of Chicago.

Perhaps I can finally narrow down the best chicago places.  My decisions are based on the actual food (duh), price, service, location, and atmosphere.  Well good luck Chicago eateries…
